Get ready to put on your explorer's hat because on Monday, October 28, 2024, we're going on a with the legendary Nathan Orr, our very own ecologist from the Mendip Hills National Landscape. We'll kick things off at the Mendip Activity Centre reception and then meander through 250 acres of nature, where mushrooms and fungi await like hidden treasures. Think ancient woodlands, varied grasslands, and a few historic quarries that have probably seen things—like that time someone tried to climb a particularly steep path and promptly regretted it.

This gentle stroll is perfect for those aged 14 and above, although if you have a younger mushroom enthusiast who can't resist asking "what's that?" every few seconds, they're more than welcome to tag along. We'll cover about 3 to 4 km, with a few hilltop challenges thrown in for fun, so it might be a good idea to check our Accessibility page just to make sure your legs are on board. Bring your own snacks to keep the energy up because we're not providing refreshments, but you can always stop by The Alpine Lounge – our café-bar – for a hot drink or a nibble either before or after our fungal adventure.
