Come along to the Portishead Christmas Lights Switch-On, where the High Street will be decked out with over 8,000 twinkling bulbs that could probably be seen from space. Things kick off at 5:40 pm, so don't be late unless you want to miss the live entertainment and our charming host, who's been practicing their festive greetings. Just when you think it couldn't get better, Santa will roll in like a celebrity in a parade—this time cruising in some seriously blinged-out V-DubsVW cars decked with Christmas lights, all while accompanied by the local Fire Service and Coastguard (if they aren't busy saving the world).

Once the lights are on and your heart is warmed by the holiday spirit, get ready for the main event, which is basically the fireworks show at 6:45 pm. It'll finish the night off with a bang, or a series of bangs depending on how many rockets they've got lined up. It's a local tradition that's hard to beat. So grab your mulled wine, find your best scarf, and get ready to kick off the festive season in style.
